FathersSummit 2025

In June 2025, the VäterSummit took place in Düsseldorf - a joint event organized by the Office for Equality and Anti-Discrimination of the City of Düsseldorf, the State Working Group for Fatherhood in NRW and the equal opportunities offices of the cities of Dortmund, Münster, Essen, Recklinghausen and Bonn. It offered fathers, children and professionals from NRW a space for exchange, co-design and mutual support.

The aim of the VäterSummit was to make the many facets of fatherhood visible and to provide impetus for a partnership-based society. The program included inspiring keynotes, exciting campfire talks and numerous hands-on activities on the topics of fatherhood, bonding and equal care.

Greetings from the Lord Mayor of the City of Düsseldorf, Dr. Stephan Keller, and the State Secretary of the NRW Ministry of Family Affairs, Lorenz Bahr, rounded off the program.

The event was accompanied by the children's reporters from the Düsseldorf media workshop of AKKI e. V.

The Familiendialog.NRW entered the next round as part of the VäterSummit 2025. With this open offer, the NRW Ministry of Family Affairs wants to get into conversation with parents and families in the state.

In Düsseldorf, the exchange focused on the experiences, wishes and expectations of fathers in North Rhine-Westphalia. State Secretary Lorenz Bahr was on site and accompanied the exchange.

The results of the family dialog will be incorporated into the North Rhine-Westphalia Family Report 2026.
